Research

The National Center on Child Abuse Prevention Research was established in 1986 with the support of the Skillman Foundation to increase the nation's understanding of the complex causes of child maltreatment, to evaluate the effectiveness of prevention programs and to disseminate this information to the field. The Research Center has since made significant contributions to the expansion of current knowledge of child abuse prevention. Prevent Child Abuse America recognizes the significance of research to inform the public at-large and specifically, practitioners and consumers of prevention programming. The Research Center is uniquely positioned to conduct the research necessary to support a new movement to improve child well-being through prevention. Using knowledge derived from research and practice, we will be able to effectively prevent child abuse and neglect, and our commitment to disseminating this information to our networks and partners is a core tenet of our work.

The following information on child abuse was rated highly by the Child & Family WebGuide.
