PCA California along with the California Department of Social Services will be hosting the 5th annual Kids Day at the Capitol on April 21st. This is a fun filled morning with activities for kids, a resource fair for parents, free healthy snacks, and local guest speakers all located on the ground of the California State Capitol. So far over 200 kids are confirmed to attend as a part of school field trips and 40 exhibitors are registered.
1,500 Child Abuse Prevention Resource Packets were developed and distributed to local childcare centers and schools in Delaware. The recipients are encouraged to use the materials to share with the children and families they are involved with and they also have the opportunity to order as many pinwheels as needed to hand out to the children at no cost to them. Each pinwheel is accompanied by an information card for the parent/caregiver. The paper pinwheel activity, pinwheel coloring sheet and a lesson plan are all materials that are included in the packet.
Pinwheels and baseball caps will also be handed out to as many as 1,000 children at an upcoming Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball game along with other prevention information. In addition over 600 pinwheels will be distributed and will also go on display in flower pots throughout the Dover Air Force Base in recognition of the campaign.
Pinwheels will also be on display and available to those interested at our local State Service Centers.
We also secured a full-page ad and editorial article in a publication called “Get Involved” in our local newspaper to raise awareness for the ‘Pinwheels for Prevention’ Campaign.
Public Service Announcements are airing statewide on TV and Spanish Radio stations throughout Florida. Winds of Change Toolkits were disseminated during early February to local coordinators and their community partners involved in implementation of the campaign. Print ready files for banners, flyers and logo was included in the toolkit. All materials are available for download on our Website at http://www.ounce.org/. Each region received pinwheels to display within their communities during April. Download the attached spreadsheet for a full list of events:
